Lego champs rock West Region Conference
The CSI West Region Conference, was hosted by the Los Angeles Chapter, CSI, held at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena, CA, October 24-28, 2007.
The theme of this years LEGO design competition was “Falling for CSI”
Following are comments from Sacto Team Members about their time at the conference..
“And Marni’s design (and reconstruction after moving the table) that cantilevered suspended the waterfall” Janet adds.
Marni agrees and likes Duane’s explanation! (The idea was a combination of Duane Johnson, Chris Delgado and myself.) But to go vertical and downward was a true challenge! Lots of posts and beams to pick up the loads. Of course the use of white and blue Lego tiles to create the use of water and white water. Don’t forget that Eric Camen and Jan Seaman helped sort the Legos, so like any good contractor, we knew what materials we had to work with.”
“Waterfall???” “I thought that was the effluent outfall from the CSI village sewer plant. Much more ‘Sacramento-ish’ visual than a pristine waterfall.” Duane responded.
“To tell the story, we must remember the part about taking the entire table up to Marni’s room to work on it. The Hotel staff brought the table to the room, then Duane and Phil (after several cocktails) had to figure out how to get the table in the elevator to return it to the lobby.” Laura started. “We were trying to meet the ‘no working after 11pm rule’”. Marni interjected. “Then there was the lego waterfall, suspended in mid air…. Marni’s patience paid off, it remained in place until we had to take the whole thing apart.”
“When it comes to legos (and many other things), Sacramento rocks!”
